SUMMARY:Weekend Retreat: The Noble Eightfold Path in Daily Life
DESCRIPTION:Join Matt Hane\, RMI Dharma Teacher\, on a weekend silent retreat at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Colorado Springs\, to practice in person in a beautiful location surrounded by deer\, birds\, and open space. The theme of the retreat is\, “The Noble Eightfold Path in Daily Life.” \nWe will take the weekend to deepen our mediation practice and offer ourselves an opportunity to find peace\, rest\, and community in noble silence. The retreat will offer long periods of walking and sitting meditation\, along with interviews with the Retreat Leader. Matt will offer meditation instruction throughout the retreat\, along with Dharma talks Friday and Saturday nights. \nThe retreat is limited to 12 people and costs $380.00 per person. DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us Sunday mornings to calm your mind and open your heart through Buddhist Vipassana meditation practice. Vipassana means “clear-seeing” or “insight” and was taught by the Buddha to help cut the root of suffering and lead practitioners towards full awakening. We begin Sunday mornings with a short walking meditation followed by a reading from one of our Dharma Teachers or Practice Leaders. DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays June 3\,10\,17 6:30 – 8:00 pm\, taught by Lucinda Green  \nThese teachings form foundational teachings of the Buddha. It answers the questions of the Buddha’s quest. Why is there illness\, aging and death? What keeps us feeding our painful experiences? How can we renounce our habits of mind and behaviors that keep us mired in suffering. The Buddha laid out a clear and definite path for liberation from suffering. Right Understanding\, Right View\, Right Speech\, Right Livelihood\, Right Action\, Right Effort\, Right Concentration and Right Livelihood will be explored in this in-person class. \nRegister by June 1\, 2025. $75 includes a copy of Pathway to Freedom: Applying the Teachings of the Buddha. SUMMARY:Wednesday Sangha Sittings and Dhamma Instruction
DESCRIPTION:Our main weekly event\, Sangha Night\, is open to all. We begin our evening with a short walking meditation to settle the body and mind followed by 20 – 30 minutes of sitting practice. Then\, our usual program follows with a Dharma talk on one of the many aspects of the Buddhist path by one of our highly qualified and experienced Dharma Teachers or Meditation Instructors. We also celebrate special programs and events on Wednesday nights\, for example: meditations on the 4 Divine Abidings every 1st Wednesday\, recitation of the 5 Precepts on Wednesdays nearest the full-moon\, Refuge Vow ceremonies\, and holiday celebrations such as Wesak.
